Dan Menzone: News

Congratulations go out in a HUGE way to Dan for taking FIRST PLACE in the International Songwriter Competition for the Instrumental Category for GONE BESERK off his latest album Frostbite!

As you know...Dan has been playing for over 30 years and he's been nominated for other awards in the past, but this is by the far the GREATEST accomplishment for him.

Over 16000 entries had been received for the competition. 16 of those were selected as finalists in the instrumental category - and to note, of those, only 4 were from the United States. Among the judges were Peter Gabriel, Wynona, a member of the Byrds, and too many others to name.

Dan would like to thank Lee Marcus for his originality and creativity in Gone Beserk. Also, thanks go out to Wyatt Rice, Rickie Simpkins, Rob Ickes, Ron Rice, and Adam Steffey for their phenomenal musicianship, as well as Richard Bennett and Don Rigsby for the vocals. All of these guys make playing and writing an inspiration.

Finally - a really big thanks goes out to YOU, his fans. Without your support and listening ears, none of this would mean anything!

Dan is a phenomenal musician he is. He was a member of the Traver Hollow Bluegrass band for 25 years, toured Europe and performed with us from Florida to Tennessee to Canada. He has recorded numerous albums with Traver Hollow and is working on his third solo recording project with some of the greatest names in Bluegrass. He currently performs with Bluegrass band, True grass, and Gail Wade and Turning Point who are based in Connecticut.

Also - look for our postings for the CD Release party to occur in September. You will want to mark your calendars, since many of the Frostbite stars will be there to sign autographs, strum their instruments with you, and give a live performance!

Dan has teamed with Gail Wade, the founding member of Turning Point, a CT based jazz, blues, folk ensemble.
Dan has always been open to diversity in his playing, as his first solo album - Menzone Drive - proved. With Turning Point, Dan takes a giant leap into a new avenue. If you've never heard JAZZ or BLUES BANJO - this is the time to check it out!

Just wanted to let you all know that I am in the studio again!

This new recording should be released in early spring 2008.

It promises to be FANTASTIC!
Wyatt & Rickie will be joining me again. I will leave the other players a secret for now - just to keep you all interested and coming back for more.

I'll be visiting Rice Recording Studios in Damascus, VA at the end of the month.

Will be talking with Wyatt about a new CD project. Just thoughts at the moment, I have written several new songs.
